bullet The Sanderson varsity and jv cheerleading teams will be competing in the Wake County Championships on Saturday, February 13, at Southeast Raleigh High School. Check out the full schedule for the day.

  • The NC Cheerleading Coaches Association State Championships originally scheduled for January 30 are rescheduled for Saturday, February 20, and the venue has tentatively been moved to the Greensboro Coliseum.

bullet Congratulations to Sanderson basketball players Deshawna Smith, Stradford Barnett, Sha'Qua Davis, and J.R. Soto. They have earned the honor of representing the Eastern U.S. in a 3-on-3 basketball competition at the NBA All-Star weekend in Dallas on February 11. Read more about the story in the News & Observer.

bullet Congratulations to the Sanderson swimmers and divers who qualified to compete in the NCHSAA 4A Swimming and Diving Championship meet at Triangle Aquatics Center on February 11. The Spartans who will swim in the meet are: Ollie Clayton-Luce, Peter Clayton-Luce, Matt Taylor, Daniel Dozier, Christian Mason, Kaitlyn Burnette, Larua James, Samantha Cook, and Caroline Morton. Swim fast Spartans!

bullet Congratulations the Sanderson wrestlers who finished among the top three in their weight class at the Cap Seven Wrestling Tournament this past weekend at Leesville Road. First place: Adam Tassitino (119 wt class), Blane McElreath (130); Third place: Marcus Felton (189), Philip Price (215), Marvin Vazquez (285). By a vote of the Cap Seven coaches, Adam Tassitino was seleted Cap Seven Wrestler of the Year. Congratulations Adam!

bullet Representatives of the 2009 Men's Cross Country team accept the State Champions Banner at the basketball game on January 22.

bullet Six Sanderson soccer alumni were among a dozen young men inducted into the first class of the Players Division of the CASL Hall of Fame on Sunday, January 24. The six are shown below with their high school coach, Sanderson Athletic Director Bob Catapano. The photo was taken at the induction ceremony. Pictured with Catapano are, from left to right, Shohn Beachum (Class of 1993), Caleb Norkus ('97), Bakty Barber ('81), Michael Bucy ('97), Clark Brisson ('87), and Marcus Martin ('82). What a crew! Congratulations to all of the inductees!
