The Sanderson Men's Soccer Team defeated Middle Creek in the first round of the NCHSAA playoffs on Tuesday, 1-0. The victory propels them to a second round match at Green Hope on Saturday, November 7 at 6:00 PM. Admission will be $6.00 per person. The state playoff brackets can be viewed on the NCHSAA website.

Good Luck to the SHS Varsity Cheerleaders in the NCHSAA State Championships at the Raleigh Convention Center on Saturday, November 7.

Congratulations to Spartan Cross Country/Track Runner Allison Cook for being honored as the WRAL-TV Extra Effort Award winner on October 28. View the WRAL video.

The Sanderson Men's Cross Country team raced to a second place finish in the NCHSAA 4A Mideast Regional meet on Saturday, October 31. They finished a close second to Broughton, a team that they've been running neck and neck all season. The Spartan team has qualified to run in the NCHSAA State Championship meet next Saturday at Tanglewood Park, in Clemmons, near Winston-Salem. Joining seven male runners will be the Cook sisters, Allison and Samantha, who qualified on the basis of their individual finishes in the women's race. The Sanderson Athletic Club will host the Fall Sports Banquet at the school on November 16. Invitations are in the process of being distributed to all fall sport athletes. You can download an invitation here. Reservations are expected for all who will be having dinner with us. Reservations were due by November 1.

Congratulations to Sanderson football player and golfer Josh Milian. Josh is the 850 the Buzz Scholar-Athlete of the Month for September. You'll hear his radio interview on 850 the Buzz for several weeks. You can also check it out on the web.
