SHS Men's Cross Country team wins NCHSAA State Championship

The Sanderson Men's Cross Country Team won the NCHSAA 4A State Championship on Saturday, November 7! It was the first state championship earned by a Sanderson cross country team in the 42 year history of the school. The Spartans won in exciting fashion by earning the victory by a slim margin (3 points) over Cap Seven sister school Broughton, the two-time defending state champions. Sanderson and Broughton had been running neck and neck all season long. The Cook sisters also ran well for the Spartans in the women's state meet. Congratulations to Sanderson football player and golfer Josh Milian. Josh is the 850 the Buzz Scholar-Athlete of the Month for September. You'll hear his radio interview on 850 the Buzz for several weeks. You can also check it out on the web.

Congratulations to the students-athletes who were named the Most Outstanding Players on their teams at Sanderson's Fall Sports Banquet on November 16. They are Emma Celentano - Volleyball, Allison Cook - Cross Country, Matt Schick - Cross Country, Rachel Duffus - Tennis, Glenn Scott - Soccer, and Matt James - Football.
