Discipline Protocol
Discipline Protocol Disrespect & inappropriate language toward staff will not be tolerated. School Board Policy 6410.4 and 6410.8
Rationale; A strict enforcement to maintain civility and support the integrity of the school and its professionals.
  1. This is inappropriate verbal, non-verbal, or physical conduct in presence of, directed to or directed toward a staff member.
  2. Depending on the intensity, severity, and duration of the offense, a student may be suspended out of school for any violation of this rule.
No head coverings of any kind may be worn. School Board Policy 6410.1
Rationale; Head coverings interfere with identification of students. Some head gear is associated with gang affiliation.
Electronic devices may never be visible, and/or never turned on during academic day.
School Board Policy 6426.1 and 6426.4
Rationale; Cell phones and MP3/MP4 type devices have been increasingly stolen, caused verbal and physical altercations, and created distractions in school. Texting has encouraged cheating, a violation of School Board Policy 6445.1, and facilitated distribution of illegal items. *** All teachers are encouraged to confiscate all items, i.e. cell phones, MP3 players, etc . . . & head coverings covered under these policies. Once items are taken from students, we have a legal obligation to properly secure them. Teachers are strongly encouraged to turn the items in to the main office as soon as possible so it can be under lock and key. Thanks for your support!) ***
Students must be on time to class and in the appropriate area. School Board Policy 6410.7.
Rationale; We must hold students responsible for the time they are required to be in class, reduce class disruption due to late entries, and reduce the time that teachers are distracted from instruction. We also are accountable for all student movement during the instructional day.
  1. Students arriving in class after the tardy bell are late to class. Teachers should assign ASD to students for being tardy to class. A "no-show" in ASD may result in OSS.
  2. Students must always have a pass if in the hall between classes. This pass should indicate the name of the student's classroom teacher, the destination, date and time.
  3. Students must not be in the hallways with or without passes the first 15 minutes of each period.
  4. SMART Lunch: Students should remain in one location from bell to bell during lunch or tutorial. Each student must have a pass to be permitted to leave any classroom or lunch area at any time.
*** To re-establish an on-time culture in the school, the administration will conduct period by period "lock outs" for the first three weeks of the second semester. During this time frame, tardy students must not be allowed to enter any class without an authorized signed pass for that period. The administration will assign ASD for each student late to class.***
