What is SMART Lunch?
SMART Lunch offers a new daily schedule which will give students time during an extended lunch period to study, complete makeup work, and explore additional academic interests. Its purpose is to provide opportunities for students to enrich their learning experiences and/or receive additional academic help and support during the school day.

First Nine Weeks of School
We are pleased to offer a SMART lunch period during the school day to all students, but particularly to our upperclassmen, many of whom have after-school jobs or other extracurricular commitments. Because this is a new tradition, students will follow a mandatory schedule the first NINE days of school to learn the rules and opportunities of the new SMART lunch program .
The 1st week of school, all students, INCLUDING UPPERCLASSMEN , will remain on campus and follow a set schedule. This schedule requires that each student attend a 30-minute lunch period and a 30-minute SMART lunch session in their classrooms, during which they will learn the campus-wide rules and procedures of the SMART lunch program.
The 2nd week of school students will follow a similar schedule, but during this second week, teachers will explain to students what unique tutorial or enrichment programs they intend to offer. Those students who have bought a lunch pass may begin leaving campus for lunch during this 2nd week of school, which starts Monday, August 31. All students who remain on campus will follow the set mandatory schedule.
In advance, we'd like to thank all of the parents, students and teachers for helping us get off to a great start. And a special note of appreciation to our upperclassmen, whose leadership will help the student body make this a successful transition--and build on the Spartan tradition of academic excellence.
