What is the Graduation Project? The
Graduation Project is a culminating activity that allows students
to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have accumulated throughout
their high school career. The project provides an opportunity for
a student to choose an area of interest, conduct in-depth research,
demonstrate
problem solving, decision-making and independent learning skills.
It is part of the North Carolina high school exit standards. Students
in the the graduating class of 2010 and every class thereafter are
required to pass the Graduation Project in order to receive a diploma.
The project, which represents years of education and achievement, should be a challenge and will require a concerted focused effort. However, by approaching it in a step-by-step manner, and by adhering to the deadlines as scheduled, the project is manageable. The payback will be the sense of accomplishment felt for a job well done, as well as the positive experiences gained. At Sanderson High School the student will be well supported throughout the journey. The faculty and staff are committed to ensuring the success of all students. Many of the skills needed to complete the Graduation Project are taught across the curriculum. Students will meet with their faculty advisor throughout the school year. In addition, the student will work with a mentor from the community who has expertise in the student’s field of study. SHS Power Point Show What are the four components and state rubrics?
