Parent/Booster Organizations
PTSA
PTA is an organization for parents, teachers, and students working jointly to improve education. Through a large network of volunteers, we seek to support our children and all their endeavors at Sanderson. From the collection of membership dues ($7.00) and several money making activities (sale of T-shirts, etc.) we are able to support such projects as Teacher Appreciation, Open House, publication of newsletters to parents and students, physical building needs, Cultural Arts Programs, etc. The PTA board meets at 7:00 p.m. the first Monday of every month in the library. Parents are welcome to attend these meetings and we encourage all of you to join us as we work to continue the proud tradition of excellence at Sanderson. The President for 2008-2009 is Clarice Robinson (848-1193).
Theater Booster Club
The SHS Theatre Boosters Club is dedicated to charitable educational and artistic purposes. This organization allows a working relationship with the theatre teacher to benefit theatre students and members of main stage productions. In a typical school year, there is a fall production and a musical. In addition, each theatre class performs in a showcase to highlight work from class. Booster members help to generate enthusiasm for theatre groups and their activities as well as assist in approved fundraising projects. The booster club meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the drama room. The booster chair for the 2008-2009 school year is Eleanor Cioffi (872-1602).
Athletics Club
The Sanderson Athletics Club is an organization of parents and friends interested in maintaining unequalled athletic programs for the students of Sanderson High School. It provides support through funding needs (buses, equipment, facilities), organizing and sponsoring athletic banquets, and concession stands at athletic events, etc. Funds are raised through membership fees and the sale of advertisements in athletic programs. For the 2008-2009 school year, the president is Mrs. Patti Mansmann (847-7553). The Club holds its meetings on the third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the school library. Everyone is invited to attend!
Band Boosters
The Sanderson Band Boosters are dedicated to the development of a quality band program as well as the development of an enthusiastic spirit for music education. Through fruit and flower drives, yard sales, etc., we are able to offer financial support for numerous projects (costumes, trips, instruments, props, etc.). Our children in return share their talents with everyone at football games, concerts, musicals, competitions, etc. The president for 2008-2009 is Mr. Al Godley (740-6711). Meetings are held the second Monday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the band room.
Senior Activities
Chairs for the senior breakfast are: Janie Brunson (jbird7908@nc.rr.com) and Lisa Baker (flipnskip@yahoo.com). Chair for the Baccalaureate is: Maryann Potts (mapotts@nc.rr.com).
Please note that any student-owned equipment brought to the school is the student’s responsibility. The school will not be held responsible for loss or damage.
Friends of the Performing Arts
The Performing Arts Boosters are parents and friends dedicated to the development of an outstanding vocal music program at Sanderson. A variety of fund raising projects such as “Broadway Comes to Sanderson” occur throughout the year to provide financial support for our young people. In turn, they contribute to the total school program through their concerts, musicals, competitions, etc. The Performing Arts Booster President for 2008-2009 is Vivian Brendle (872-9004).
Air Force Junior ROTC Boosters
The Sanderson Junior ROTC Boosters Club is a parent organization which supports the Junior Air Force ROTC program. The general moral, mental, and physical well-being of the cadets and members are a primary focus. Through membership fees and limited fund raisers, we support field trips to nearby bases, cadet participation in drill meets, parades, naturalization ceremonies, Special Olympics, and a number of other community service projects. The president for the 2008-2009 school year is Kathy Swango (848-4532).
Academic Boosters
The Academic Boosters Club seeks to recognize and promote student excellence in school-related activities. We give a “pat on the back” to students who excel academically, to those who consistently work up to their potential, and to those who give that “extra effort” by improving their classroom performance.
The Academic Booster Club needs your support this year! We invite all Sanderson parents and teachers to join the efforts to promote excellence, perseverance and success among ALL Sanderson High School students.
