National Honor Society (NHS)

I. Requirements for membership

• A. Must be Junior or Senior
• B. Must have an un-weighted GPA of 3.5
• C. Must have significant leadership at Sanderson (as shown on application and reviewed and approved by the faculty committee)
• D. Must show a strong commitment to community service (as shown on application and reviewed and approved by faculty committee.
• E. Must have outstanding character (rated by teachers at Sanderson)

II. Opportunities for applying

• We accept applications twice a year once in September and once in February
• Announcements are made for information sessions which are mandatory in order to receive an application.

III. Requirements for retaining membership

A. Must uphold all of the requirements needed for acceptance

B. Must complete 10 hours of in-school service each semester

C. Must complete 10 hours of out-of-school service each semester

D. Must complete 1 fundraising hour each semester

E. Grades are checked every semester, unless on probation and then checked every quarter.

F. Must attend ALL monthly meetings.  Only acceptable reasons for missing are an excused absence from school on day of the meeting or an athletic game. 

IV. Meeting dates
A. The first Tuesday of every month at 3:15 in Cafeteria on Band Room side.
