SHS final exam schedule (explained)
SHS Final Exam Schedule- Spring 2013
This semester’s final exam schedule is different than it has been in the past. To accommodate new state testing requirements, SHS has constructed a final exam schedule comprised of 6 days. Two days are designated for new state exams called Measures of Student Learning/Common Exams (referred to as MSLs or CEs) and teacher-made exams. The other four days of testing are for state exams called EOCs and CTE Post Assessments.
What does this mean for students?
MSLs or CEs will be given in the following courses: English I, III and IV, Geometry, Algebra II, AFM, Pre-Calculus Honors, Earth Science, Physical Science, Chemistry, Physics, World History, Civics/Economics and US History. Exceptions to this are students enrolled in an AP or online version of these courses. Instead of having a teacher-made exam in these courses, students will take a state-issued exam. In addition, there are no EOC retake exams.
What hasn’t changed?
ü EOC exam scores count for 25% of students’ final grades and all other final exams count 20%.
ü Students report to school on days where their course(s) have exams scheduled.
ü Seniors are still eligible for exam exemptions if they meet the grade and attendance eligibility requirements (*seniors will be eligible for exemptions in fewer courses now because of the new state MSL/CE testing).
ü There are no check outs allowed during exam days.
