F4K/Career Cruising is a multi-faceted tool to explore careers, connect to career coaches to ask questions and arrange work- based opportunities. To take the interest survey, go to www.f4k.org and click on "Students." To begin, log in with our school's username (sanderson) and password (spartans).
Occupational Outlook Handbook
Visit the Bureau of Labor Statistics site for the annually updated Occupational Outlook Handbook. Here, students can investigate a broad range of occupations, finding out details like: training and education needed, average earnings, expected job prospects, what workers do on the job, working conditions, and more. Simply visit: www.bls.gov/oco/ and type in the name of any occupation on the right hand side of the screen, in to the "Search BLS.gov for" section.

The Business Alliance is a partnership between Sanderson High School and local business professionals who agree to work together to provide students various learning opportunities as it relates to career readiness. Business alliance activities focus on career fairs, job shadowing, classroom presentations, mock interviewing, etc.
Job Shadowing
Job Shadowing is a work-based opportunity that allows a student to go to a business or work-site for part or a full workday to observe a professional on the job to learn what a typical day is like for a person with that particular career.

At Sanderson High School, job shadowing is the first Friday of February. Applications are available in December and due by the end of the month. For more information, or to participate, contact Ms. Claiborne, CDC.
Career Fairs
Career Fairs are an excellent way to explore careers and network with business and education professionals.

The SHS Career Center sponsors two events, one in the fall and another in the spring. The fairs focus on providing occupational information and answering students questions, as opposed to recruiting candidates for actual employment. Ms. Claiborne is the contact person for this program.
Military Recruiters
Military recruiters visit Sanderson High School each quarter. They set up cafeteria displays and share information with interested students. Visits are generally on Thursdays during all lunch periods. To contact Sanderson's military recruiters between visits, please stop by the career center.
Joining the Military is a big decision, and one we hope will inspire discussion among family, friends and trusted advisors. While not meant as a source of current military news (you can find that at www.defenselink.mil), the information on this site will help you carefully weigh the opportunities and benefits service has to offer.
