House Bill 769 directed the State Board of Education to design guidelines tying academic performance with a student's ability to retain his/her driver's permit and/or license. A student must pass 3 out of 4 courses each semester in order to be eligible to receive a Driving Eligibility Certificate. Students not meeting these criteria will lose their permit/license for a semester. A student who drops out of school will lose his/her driver's permit/license.
